EDWARD ORMOND
EDWARD ORMOND is an award-winning educator, author and actor who currently teaches Theater (in English) to 4th, 5th, and 6th Graders at Liyuan Primary School in Shenzhen, China for two years. Among the many successes at Liyuan he is most proud of the plays he wrote, directed and produced with the talented 6th graders both this year and the last. Known for his enthusiasm and creative talents, the students call him “Mr. E,” but it is no “mystery” as to why he is such a popular teacher. In the Top Five Finalists for the Maryland Teacher of the Year in 2005 Mr. Ormond took 2nd place and continues to inspire students to achieve high expectations. In the United States, Edward has written professional curriculums for English, Social Studies, Talented and Gifted, Technology, and Theater as well as for the multi award-winning novel written by his sister. In China, Mr. E continues to share his passion for learning by being a life-long learner himself. Learning along side 4th Grade Chinese Moral Education Teachers in 2012, he wrote several lessons about Civics, or Citizenship, and brought a winning team to the very first Civic Education Showcase in Futian. He was also instrumental in the production of The Oral English Curriculum Framework for Grades 1-9 in Futian Educational Bureau in Shenzhen. He even learned taiji to be part of the Teacher’s Taichi Team at Liyuan PS’s Sport’s Day. Mr. E has also learned that Teaching English with Theater Skills has been an interesting way to give students conversational confidence with Creative Dramatics, Public Speaking and Improvisational Skills. Mr. E has written and produced three dramas at Liyuan Primary School and will enter “Morin Khuur – The Legend of Suho and the White Horse” at a District Competition in January 2015. Who knows what’s next? That’s the mystery of Mr. E!
